In the past, and presently, ICHIEM Limited has been involved in various Fibre Audit and Duct Management projects for various telecommunications operators. We have worked in the following project types in the course of our audit and management:

Fibre Audit

  1. To ascertain the continuity, strength and integrity of the existing fibre. This is done with the aid of OTDR machine, Light source and Power meters.
  2. The suitability of the existing fibre to continue with the increased traffic.

Copper Audit

  1. To ascertain the continuity and strength of the existing copper.
  2. Check the outside cabinets to make sure that the coppers are still firmly connected.
  3. Ascertain the suitability of the existing copper to continue with the increased traffic.

Duct Management

  1. The condition of the manholes and expected number of ducts.
  2. The arrangement of cables and accessories in the manholes.
  3. Pit test to ascertain the duct route, depth of the duct/trench and existence of warning tape.
  4. Existence and installation of route markers.
  5. Pressure test to check the continuity of the duct.
  6. Mandrel test to check if the ducts are free or blocked.
  7. Condition of bridge attachments.
  8. Thrust bored areas and their present conditions.
  9. Concrete and asphalt re-instatements.

Cell sites

  1. Condition of cell sites including the installation of the ODF and Patch Panel installations.
  2. Cable arrangements both in and out and all the necessary identification in place.
  3. Condition of other equipment installed which include the cooling system and insulation where necessary.
  4. The status of the antennas and cable trays.

We have been directly involved in the Fibre Audit and Duct Management of the following:

  1. Nokia Siemens Network for Airtel within South-West, South-East, South-South and Kaduna region (650km).
  2. Mainone cable within Lagos from BMH-CLS and its back haul to other POP in Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah axis (67km).
  3. Huawei on Airtel take over from Nokia Siemens Network within West and East.
  4. MTN within Western region and South-East of over 600km linked with FOC.
  5. Mobitel within South-West Aspanda International Market Copper/FOC (Over 2500 shops),  Sura Shopping Complex Copper/FOC (500 Shops) and Warri region.
  6. IPNX over 120 sites within Victoria Island, Lekki and Ikoyi axis of Lagos State.
  7. MTNN Cable continuity (Benin-Asaba-Onitsha-Owerri).
  8. We have also worked with Siemens/Alcatel on Nitel Infrastructure built, Mainone on its roll out with maintenance and Huawei on Airtel/MTN audit and maintenance (As Staff on Field and Top Management level).
